The Tactile Mind

Solo exhibition with Artuner

Locked in whimsical dispute between mechanistic imagery reminiscent of weaving machines and soft billowing forms— Pia Krajewski’s paintings enter the fantastical. Presented in the exhibition The Tactile Mind, the artworks are animated by hues of yellow, presenting a shift in the artist’s practice. The monochrome approach highlights the pattern-making and rhythmic compositions and the protean nature of reality. Settled within a defined artistic language, Pia explores the creation of textiles from a thread to mechanical intervention. Krajewski extrapolates the idea of a thread, studying how line informs and produces form.

Pia’s practice explores the creation of how textiles are made from a bare thread, appreciating the mechanical intervention of machines as means of production. The universal image of the thread reeling on the spool springs into mind, grounds the soft shapes, calibrating the architecture of the abstract and serving as a magnification of known structures. In a synergy between cloth and brush, Pia Krajewski enables the clear-cut clarity of machinery into the fluidity of fabric, proposing, with defined lines, an entrance to the unexpected.
